Montriond and Morzine have traditionally been suppliers of slate roofs in the Haute Savoie. This century-old method to finish off roofs has here and there left its marks in the mountains. A ten minutes walk from the Chalet (follow the path to a waterfall, then onwards along the Les Fys mountain path)will bring you to the entrances of the old slate-stone mines. A really nice place. From here you also have a beautiful view of Montriond lake.

The Totem on the intro-page can be found on the Chalet's terrace, blending in with the environment, an encounter with the real roots. A few woodcarvings, you chisel and make a new character...an old tree comes alive. This totem is a symbol charged with history, it is the guardian of the Chalet.
